Until recently, it was believed that people with high cholesterol should not eat eggs, this myth has been debunked in recent years. One medium egg (58g) contains about 4.6 grams of fat, and only ¼ of that is saturated fat, which raises cholesterol. Also, only the yolk contains fat, whereas the white is very lean. Therefore, 3-4 eggs per week can be eaten even by those with elevated cholesterol levels. Those who do not have to worry about cholesterol can safely eat up to at least one egg every day, or even more.

The myth that only the egg yolk is valuable was very common some time ago. This is not true – the whole egg is valuable, even the shell, which is a good source of calcium. Eggs are very healthy because they contain antioxidants that take care of vision. These are phosphorus, iron, calcium, zinc and selenium. They are rich in phospholipids that make up cell walls, vitamin D, which is necessary for bones and immunity, and vitamins A and B. Eggs contain a lot of protein, which is necessary for the body to function properly.

Myth: eggs should be eaten with salt and mayonnaise

Truth: Eggs are good as long as they are not eaten with mayonnaise or salt.

Anyone who wants to lose weight or maintain a slim figure can include eggs in their diet, as one medium egg contains about 80 calories, is filling, low in fat, but high in protein. Just don’t eat them with mayonnaise or a good pinch of salt on each bite, (mayonnaise has a lot of fat and calories, but salt retains fluid in the body and raises blood pressure), but on a slice of wholemeal wholemeal bread or with vegetables, or prepare healthy stuffed eggs after our recipes.

Stuffed eggs with avocado

for 4 persons:

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 avocado
  • 1-2 tbsp. Turkish yogurt
  • 4 cherry tomatoes
  • a couple of onions
  • salt and lemon pepper to taste

1. Peel the hard-boiled eggs and cut them in half lengthwise.

2. Remove the yolks from the whites and put them in a bowl. Mix with a blender or a fork into a homogeneous mass.

3. Finely chop the onions and add to the egg-avocado mixture. Add salt and lemon zest, add Turkish yogurt and mix. The mass is filled with egg white halves.

4. Cut the cherry tomatoes in half and place them on the stuffed eggs.
